Steph joined QLD Law Group in July 2022 working within the Compliance Team, before transitioning to Compliance Team Leader in 2023. Steph is currently studying Individual Support in the Disability Sector. She has a background in hospitality and customer service. Outside of work, Steph enjoys spending time with her family, crafting and playing with her dog.

    Claudia joined the QLD Law Group in 2020 as a Law Clerk. Having graduated, she is now working as a solicitor in the Brisbane office with a background specialising in Compensation Law and Worker’s Rights.

    Claudia graduated with a Bachelor's degrees in Laws (Honors) and Business (Marketing) from the Queensland University of Technology. She obtained her Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice and was admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2022.

    Claudia is a member of the Queensland Law Society and has previously worked with Community Legal Centres specialising in Domestic Violence.

    Her hobbies include horse riding, travelling and gardening. She is also a passionate Geelong Cats AFL supporter.

    Aymish Khushal

    Aymish joined QLD Law Group in 2021, and comes with a wealth of experience in the areas of Family Law, Civil Litigation, Criminal and Compensation Law.

    He holds Bachelor’s degrees in Laws and Science, majoring in Microbiology and Infectious diseases. In addition to these qualifications Aymish also completed a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice and was admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland, and High Court of Australia in 2016.

    As an avid aviator, Aymish holds a Commercial Pilot's Licence and enjoys flying light aircraft, playing golf and going camping in his spare time.

    Aymish currently practices out of the Springwood office, in the areas of Compensation Law, Wills and Estates, Criminal and Civil law.

    Simon was a partner in another medium sized legal practice in the city and for the four years prior to joining QLD Law Group, he had been operating as a sole practitioner.

    Simon is unusual in the sphere of Family Law as he is from a Commercial Law background.

    As such he brings a realistic and solution focused approach to Family Law matters. Simon is very approachable and happy to discuss any issues you may have in this area.

    Max has a strong background in Personal Injury (PI) law, having previously worked at Turner Freeman Lawyers and Stacks Law Firm in Goulburn, NSW. While his primary focus has been in PI, Max also has experience in conveyancing, wills and estates, and some family law matters. Additionally, Max is currently completing his Practical Legal Training through the College of Law and is set to be admitted to the legal profession by the end of the year. His long-term goal is to work his way up to becoming a legislator or judge.

    Graeme McFadyen

    Group General Manager

    Graeme McFadyen, joined the QLD Law Group in late 2023 and is a distinguished leader with over two decades of experience in shaping the Brisbane legal landscape. Armed with a Bachelor of Economics and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Sydney, Graeme has been a driving force in legal practices, leveraging his extensive financial skills honed during his years at Price Waterhouse as did Peter Scanlan.

    Throughout his career, Graeme's leadership mantra has revolved around Culture, Strategy, and Execution. Graeme’s leadership journey is marked by a commitment to integrity, respect, strategic thinking and positive cultural impact. Graeme aspires to provide the same level of professional support to QLG as his good friend of 22 years, Peter Scanlan.

    Paul Sayer

    Paul holds degrees in Arts and Law from the University of Queensland and has practised as a solicitor since 1972.

    To his position as consultant at Qld Law Group, Paul brings many years’ experience in the field of litigation. He also has a particular interest in insolvency and in the administration of deceased estates.

    Paul was a member of the Queensland Law Society’s Insolvency Committee and the Brisbane chapter of the Insolvency and Reconstruction Committee of the Business Law Section of the Law Council of Australia from 1994-2024. He has been a member of the Supreme Court Library Committee’s Collection Sub-Committee since 1994 and was a member Supreme Court History Program Sub-Committee from 2002 to 2017.

    Outside the practice of law, Paul was Treasurer of the Brisbane History Group from its formation in 1981 to 1998 and from 2000 to 2017. He was President from 1997 to 1999 and from 2018 to 2020, and remains a member of the management committee. He has contributed to several collections of the Brisbane History Group’s papers and to three collections of papers published by the Supreme Court Library: Sir Samuel Griffith: The Law and the Constitution (2002), Justice According to Law: A Festschrift for the Honourable Mr Justice B H McPherson CBE (2006) and The Idea of Legal History: A Tribute in Honour of Dr Michael White QC (2014).

    He was made an honorary member of the Queensland Law Society in 2023 in recognition of his 50 years’ membership. He is an honorary life member of the Gregory Terrace Old Boys’ Association and the Brisbane History Group as well as the Serenata Singers of which he was a member from its formation in 1970 to 1992, and has been its patron since 1993.

    Despite the grey hair, Paul is adamant that there is no truth in the rumour that he was actually present at some of the historical events that he writes about.

    Steven J

    Steven Johnson

    Steven is the founder of the QLD Law Group and as such has been responsible for the Group growing from humble beginnings to its present position as one of QLD’s best regarded, mid-sized, law firms.

    Steven has degrees in Commerce and Law which assist him in his position as the responsible Legal Practitioner Director for the Group’s business transactions and advisory team.

    He acts or has acted for international banks, building societies, property developers, resort operators and, just as importantly, literally thousands of everyday people as his clients.

    He has successfully guided the Group into the global market. The Group is now heavily involved in business in and out of Australia having the honour of being selected to be the QLD representative office of the prestigious Lawyers Associated Worldwide Group. Steven now serves on the Group’s executive helping guide law firms around the world.

    Coming from a sporting background (some may say not a very good one!), Steven represents many high profile QLD Sporting Groups and identities maintaining an active involvement in many sports bodies, notably rugby league and surf lifesaving. He is presently the chairman of the mighty Llewellyn Motors Ipswich Jets, the Arthur Beetson Foundation and the Western Corridor NRL Bid and the International Director of the Hawaiian Rugby League to keep him busy in his spare time.
